Wednesday, February 26, 2020 - 12:03

A social company is a for-profit or non-profit organization, with a social assignment characterized by provision of goods and services that meet specific needs of target populations, especially those that are vulnerable or disadvantaged. This company should not depend on long-term government grants.

The World Bank Group supports development of social entrepreneurship to promote strong private sector involvement in economic and social development of beneficiary populations in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

To this end, World Bank Group is undertaking a study to help build a database of private social companies operating in DRC. This study was entrusted to the research agency Target SARL.
